BELIEFS

WHAT WE BELIEVE

God

God is the creator and sustainer of the entire universe and creation. He exists eternally as the Triune God in the persons the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Father

He is all powerful, sovereign, loving, just and merciful. He is ever involved in His creation, upholding the laws of nature and guiding all things towards the purpose of His will.

Jesus

Jesus is the Son of God born of a virigin. He is co-equal with the Father. All things were created by, for, and through Jesus. Jesus became God incarnate as a human on earth and lived a perfect sinless life. According to Romans 5:9 “And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him”, only Jesus could truly pay the eternal debt we owed by dying on a cross. He then physically rose from the dead three days later defeating death once and for all.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity of God. The Holy Spirit comes to dwell within every one who surrenders their life to God through Jesus. He is there to comfort believers, guide and direct Christians to the truth, teach, convict our hearts of sin and to righteousness, give spiritual gifts and lead us in to praise and exaltation of God.

Scripture

We believe all scripture is God-breathed and the ultimate source of all authority in thought and action for the Christian. The Bible should be read naturally as it is written, letting scripture interpret scripture and not by adding or taking away. There are no contradictions or any area in which the Bible does not speak truth. Let God’s word be true and all else a liar.

Sin and a Fallen World

After creating, God declared everything to be “very good”.  However, man chose to rebel against the Creator. Adam and Eve were then expelled from the Garden of Eden to receive the just promised punishment: Immediate spiritual death, and eventually physical death. As a result, all humans have inherited this sinful nature because all are descendent of Adam. This sinful nature, which separates us from God, along with God cursing the entire creation has caused all the problems and suffering we experience in the world.

Salvation

Though God showed His justice in expelling Adam and Eve from the Garden, He also simultaneously showed His great mercy. God delayed their physical death so to provide opportunity for repentance. We also read that the first death was of an animal God Himself sacrificed to cover the shame and nakedness of man. Man began, as commanded, to sacrifice animals to pay for their sins. The wages of sin is death. However, because an imperfect animal could never truly take away the sins of man, God Himself then also, coming in the form of the Son, made the final sacrifice…The death of His only Son Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross appeased God’s divine and just wrath against sin while demonstrating His mercy towards the sinner. Any one who repents of their sins, believing Jesus has truly accomplished these things and confesses Him as their Lord and Savior, God is faithful and just to forgive them of their sins and save them.

Eternal Security

Since we are saved not by our own works but only by Gods grace, there is also nothing we can do to separate us from God once we are his children. God promises us there is nothing that can snatch us out of His hand. If you are truly saved, the Holy Spirit will change you and there is nothing that can cause you to “lose” your salvation. No one could ever be “good” enough to secure eternity on their own. Only God is good and it’s by His grace and power alone that salvation is secure. God accepts us as we are, but His love will move us to be molded into the image of Christ.

Eternity

Heaven and Hell are real places. According to 2 Thessalonians 1:9, those who deny Jesus as God, Lord, and Savior, “…will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might”…

Those who embrace Jesus as their Savior and Lord will spend eternity in the presence of God where there is no more pain, suffering or death. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
